If I told you that there’s a local event similar to The Wine + Food Show, but way cooler, you’d totally be up for going right? A Taste In The Glebe brings you tons (I’m talking SIXTY) different breweries & vineyards, local restaurants, and bakeries to the same place for one evening – and the kicker is, you do not have to pay extra cash money in order to sample all of the wonderful food and beverages. This sell-out event is surely the most popular up-and-coming cocktail party of the year.
If you get to spend any time at all in The Glebe, then I know you already love it, and if not you have to check it out asap – it’s simply a lovely area close to Centretown, with a cluster of very cool shops, restaurants, and ornate homes. Sidenote: Don’t leave without re-energizing at Cafe Morala. Just like anywhere though, some of their programs are in need of funding.
This terrifically fun fundraiser benefits the Glebe Neighbourhood Activities Group (GNAG). GNAG is a volunteer-driven non-for-profit that works to enrich the community of The Glebe by offering recreational, cultural, and social activities and services. There are a variety of courses and classes, whether you want to learn about Essential Oils, play Volleyball, or put your kids in Architecture Camp. I actually remember taking a Hula-Hoop class there – you should try it, it’s a fantastic ab workout! They even have a super cool youth night, with awesome activities like a Murder Mystery and Masterchef. The hope is to shape a stronger and more inclusive community for all of its residents. And for those who can’t afford to join a class, there is financial assistance available.
At $70 per ticket, this event is literally a steal, because you get to try food from the best local restaurants, like Beckta, The Rowan, and Les Fougeres, as well as the trendiest spots right now like Paradise Poke, The Sutherland, Mad Radish, and The Soup Guy. Not to mention ah-mazing cocktails from Split Tree Cocktail Company, your fav beers from breweries like Tooth + Nail, and coffee from your local Bridgehead and Starbucks. The portions aren’t teeny tiny either – me and my plus one were stuffed by the end of the night.
There are so many events going on all the time here in our lovely city – some are epic fails (#sorrynotsorry), but most I truly suggest to all of my friends and family. And this is one of those – 100% Lotsa Local Love recommended. Tickets go on sale in mid November, so be sure to look out for them this year, in 2018, because they sell out fast (within like hours). Let’s all Shop Sip + Support Local Together!
