Don’t let the cold stop you from having so much fun this winter. Here are a few indoor activities that will have you actively passing the time until it’s finally popsicle weather again.
BATTLE IT OUT AT A BOARD GAME LOUNGE
What board games did you love playing as a kid? I remember my absolute favs were Trouble and Uno. I have such fond memories of playing games with family and friends. But they aren’t just for kids anymore! Board Game Lounges are popping up in all of the hippest places, and they’re a surefire way to amp up the competitive vibes between you and your girls/bae/family. At The Loft you can drink (alcoholic or non) and snack while playing board games, and they have SO many to choose from – family games, card games, party games, strategy games, war games. Located at 14 Waller Street, near The University of Ottawa, The Rideau Centre and the Byward Market, it sounded pretty cool, so I just had to check it out. With only a $5.50 Stay and Play charge, it’s a definite inexpensive activity that’s perfect for a rainy (or freezing) day. Take a break from doing grown up things and become that seven year old again…but with cocktails.

GET COMPETITIVE AT ARCHERY GAMES
If you’re looking for an activity where you get up and move, then some Archery Tag at #ArcheryGames may be more your thang. This is one of those totally cool things you can do here in Otts that will have your friends saying “What?! Where do you do that?!”. Well, you can now be the one to introduce them to this badass experience. How exactly does it work? Don’t worry – it’s completely family friendly, meaning you do not have to be in the know how of shooting a bow & arrow, because who the hell knows how to do that? The Hunger Games isn’t real life. The first 25 minutes is all about learning how to shoot and a lil target practice. Then you get onto the indoor field, and that is where archery and dodgeball meet for the next amazing 50 minutes. The arrows have a marshmallow like foam shape on the tip, so while it may bruise slightly and sting for a moment, you’ll walk away relatively unscathed. FYI this is also a workout, so wear whatever you usually sweat in. And then if you want even more, like weekly archery tag action, you can join one of their leagues! If you weren’t already Jennifer Lawrence-esque enough already…
