I’m no newbie to Purple Urchin. I discovered their hand soap in a washroom at a coffee shop a while back, and the name (Absinthe) and rad design definitely caught my eye. I remember reading about their Cocoa Coffee Scrub soon after that and running out to get one before they were all gone. My mom always has one in her shower to this day. I had been gearing up forever to head to their previous shop in Chinatown, but my procrastination got the best of me, and before I ever actually made it there, I saw that they were moving to the Glebe – and having a Grand Opening at that. Nothing was getting in my way this time. I headed out, list in hand, met some lovely employees, wolfed down some Suzy Q’s, tried to win $100 worth of products but didn’t, and left with exactly what I was looking for. Let me fill you in.

Mojito Bar Soap, $6.99

Who doesn’t love a good mojito? Especially when it mentally takes you away to an all-inclusive resort in Mexico – a girl can dream. Purple Urchin soaps are made with olive oil, which makes them gentle and moisturizing, and they don’t remove the naturally occurring glycerin from their soaps, which adds an extra boost of hydration. Finally, they lather well due to the coconut oil. The Mojito has fresh scents of lime and spearmint, as well as a tingling peppermint – all which makes this a good morning soap to wake you up so you’re ready to take on your day.

Lemon Lavender Dead Sea Bath Salts

If I don’t have anything to put into my bath I refuse to have one, because I feel like it’s soaking in your own filth (or dead skin. Whatever. It’s still gross). But if I have something, especially something like these amazing smelling bath salts to throw in, it makes all the difference and I can relax and soak in the tub like a normal person. In addition to the lovely scent, studies have shown that Dead Sea Salts can help with sore muscles, and regular use may also relieve skin disorders like psoriasis, eczema, acne, and even fight wrinkles. Lavender is known to be a bonus to your mental state, with anti-depressant properties, emotional balancing, promoting sleep and peacefulness, and reducing stress and anxiety. Like, seriously perfect for me.

Caramel Apple Crumble Candle

Sorry to be a negative Nancy, but I usually hate candles because they get to a point where you can no longer light the wick. Purple Urchin is changing my ways! First of all, I chose the large size, because there is plenty of room to get  that wick lit again. Also, Purple Urchin uses soy wax made from biodegradable, pesticide-free and herbicide-free non GMO soybeans. Soy wax burns longer, cooler, and cleaner than other waxes, creating less soot (another thing I detest about candles). There are, of course, different scents to choose from, but the Caramel Apple Crumble is the obvious choice for our current season.

Whether you haven’t tried Purple Urchin at all or you’re there on the regular, I want to give back to my readers! I have a small gift set containing a Lemon Lavender Dead Sea Bath Salts & a Lavender Limeade Lotion. Enter using the Rafflecopter widget, and I’ll announce the winner next Monday. Good luck! 🙂
